Who owns Frontier Fiber now?
Verizon owns it. Verizon announced its purchase of Frontier Communications on September 5, 2024, and the deal closed on January 20, 2026. When the deal closed, Verizon said the combined fiber network reached almost 30 million homes and businesses across 31 states and Washington, D.C.
Frontier areas are still sold under the Frontier name, as "Frontier, a Verizon Company," not as Verizon Fios. Verizon has told Frontier customers that their accounts and deals stay the same for now. If you are comparing plans, check both brands at your address: Fios in the nine states where Verizon sells it, Frontier Fiber elsewhere.

How to use a Frontier fiber optic map
Frontier's availability check answers the question one address at a time. For a wider view of where it reports fiber, use the FCC National Broadband Map. The FCC says users can search by address and sort or compare the data by technology, speed, service provider and area, such as state or county.
- Search your street address and select your home. The map lists each provider that reports service there, its technology, and the maximum advertised download and upload speeds.
- Sort or compare by technology and provider to see where Frontier reports fiber rather than another connection type.
- Run the same address through Frontier's own check before you choose a plan.
Every entry on the FCC map is reported by the provider, location by location. Treat it as reported coverage, not a confirmed install. If Frontier turns down an order at a home the map lists as served, you can file an availability challenge from that location.
