Where is Verizon Fios available in 2026?
Verizon Fios is sold in parts of nine states plus Washington, D.C. On its Fios Home Phone page, Verizon lists those areas as Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia, along with D.C. Coverage inside each state is partial, so many towns in these states still have no Fios.
Verizon's fiber reach grew in 2026 through its purchase of Frontier Communications. Verizon announced the deal on September 5, 2024 and valued it at $20 billion. The purchase closed on January 20, 2026. When the deal closed, Verizon said the combined network reached almost 30 million fiber passings across 31 states and Washington, D.C.
Frontier's fiber areas are now owned by Verizon, but they are not sold under the Fios name. Verizon markets them as Frontier Fiber, from "Frontier, a Verizon Company." Verizon has told Frontier customers that their accounts and deals stay the same for now. So if you live outside the nine Fios states, the Verizon-owned fiber plan at your address may carry the Frontier name.
Verizon has also set build targets. Its 2026 guidance, released January 30, 2026, includes a fiber build pace of at least 2 million new passings this year. In April 2026, CEO Dan Schulman said Verizon is on track to end 2026 with more than 32 million fiber passings. He also repeated a goal of 40 million to 50 million passings "over the medium term," without a set date.
