Fiber in Charlotte: where each network is building

Charlotte was one of Google Fiber's early markets, and the network has grown outward from the city. By August 2021, Google Fiber served North and South Charlotte, Uptown apartments and condos, and the Hidden Valley neighborhood. Construction was under way in Matthews, Concord had announced Google Fiber was coming, and the company said it hoped to serve its first customers in both by the end of that year. Today gFiber's Charlotte page lists East, North, Northwest, South, Southeast, Southwest and West Charlotte plus Uptown, and says Huntersville is next.

Most new construction is now in the suburbs, including across the state line. Service went live in Fort Mill and Tega Cay, South Carolina, on May 6, 2025. In August 2025, Telecompetitor reported that gFiber had agreements to build in Harrisburg, Kannapolis and Stallings, and was breaking ground in Huntersville.
