Comcast service areas and the Xfinity coverage area
Xfinity publishes local home internet pages for cities it serves, including Philadelphia and Boston. Those pages tell you Comcast works in the area, not that your home can order. Comcast's own serviceability guide lists the reasons an address can fall outside: it sits outside the service area, it is more than 300 feet from Comcast's physical network, the service line has not been extended to it, or the property owner, HOA or condo association has a deal with another provider or will not grant access.
If the online check cannot find your address, Comcast says to contact it for a review. Some addresses are already wired and only need to be added to its billing system. Others need construction, and Comcast says the survey to decide that typically takes three to 10 business days.
Do not read the Comcast coverage area as a fiber footprint. Comcast's network disclosure describes a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network plus a separate fiber-based service, so ask which connection your address gets before you choose a plan. The FCC National Broadband Map also lists the technology each provider reports at a location you select.
